Maureen Baxter, Principal
It is with excitement that I introduce myself as the principal of this remarkable school community. For me, this is more than a job; it is my life’s true passion. My greatest joy comes from being with and serving children, and I firmly believe that middle school is a pivotal time for growth, not just academically, but as a whole person.
At Madiba our daily work is inspired by our vision, mission, our motto “Strong Minds, Kind Hearts,” and our core values: Community, Academic Excellence, Resilience, and Leadership (C.A.R.L.). We see every student as an individual with unique potential. My commitment, and the commitment of our dedicated and caring staff, is to nurture that potential on every level: academic, physical, social, and emotional. We are here to guide your children as they discover who they are and who they want to become.
We believe that every student deserves and can achieve success. That’s why we are unwavering in our dedication to a rigorous and engaging curriculum. We challenge our students to think critically, to dig deeper, and most importantly, to become fearless learners. In our classrooms, taking an academic risk is not just accepted; it’s the norm. We want our students to feel safe enough to stretch beyond their comfort zones, to make mistakes, and to learn and grow from them. This intellectual growth can only happen within a safe, orderly, and respectful environment where every child feels secure and valued.
Our school is the heart of this vibrant, diverse community. We are a microcosm of the incredible neighborhood we serve; a community rich in culture and history, and one that is constantly evolving. Here in our halls, we strive to be more than just a school; we are a community hub, a cocoon for our students and families. We want every person who walks through our doors; students, parents, guardians, and community partners, to feel at home.
True success is a partnership. We believe that the best decisions for our children are made when all stakeholders have a voice. I am committed to fostering a school culture where your perspectives are not only heard but are integral to the decisions we make. We are all in this together, working collaboratively to understand how our choices will impact the growth and well-being of our students.
Here at Madiba, we believe in the power of community, and we wouldn't have it any other way. I am truly honored and excited to serve as your principal. I look forward to working side-by-side with you, our amazing families, dedicated staff, and community partners, to make this the most enriching, supportive, and unforgettable middle school experience for our incredible students.
Welcome to the Madiba Village!
Maureen Baxter,
Principal
